How It Works

1. Request an Estimate

Request an estimate using our contact form. Please provide as much information as possible so that we can provide you with an accurate quote. Please include type of animal(s), number of animals, days services are needed, if any medications or treatments are required, any additional household services that will be needed, and city or zip code where you are located. We will get back to you within 24 hours, but usually much more quickly.

2. Book Your Pet Sitting Appointment

Once you receive your estimate, give us a call or text to schedule your pet sitting appointment. At that time we will confirm your dates in our appointment book.

3. Schedule a Meet & Greet

Once we've got you scheduled, we will set up a Meet & Greet for Julie to come to your home to meet you and your pet & review any specific instructions you may have. We have a little paperwork for you to complete that will provide us with essential information about you and your pet. You can click the link below to print the paperwork before the M&G, but we will always have copies with us as well when we come to your home. At this time a key to your home should also be provided. The key to your home will be kept in a secured location until time of use.

4. Payment

A 50% deposit is required at the time of the Meet & Greet. Final payment is due no later than 7 days after last day of service. Payments can be made in the form of cash, Venmo or PayPal. We do not accept personal checks. We will provide you with a receipt for all payments. Should you need to cancel your pet sitting appointment, we will provide a full refund unless cancelled less than 48 hours prior to first day of service. *See full cancellation and payment policies below.

5. While You Are Away

We love to provide you with updates on your pet while you are away. We generally provide updates once daily via text unless you request more or less. We also have Instagram, Facebook & Twitter accounts and, with your permission, would also love to post pictures and updates of your pets on social media. Click the links at the bottom of the page to follow us on social media!

Cats and Critters Policies

Please know, first and foremost, that if there are any issues with your pet, we will make every attempt to contact you immediately.

This form may seem at little excessive at first glance. We want to make sure that if there is an emergency and we are unable to contact you, we have as much information as possible to provide to veterinary staff so that your pet can receive prompt and proper care.

  • Emergencies never happen at a convenient time and we must have an emergency contact in the event that we are unable to contact you, especially if you know you will be in an area with poor cell phone reception or you will not readily have access to a phone. In addition, we must also know how you wish to proceed with treatment if we cannot contact you or your emergency contact. This is vital to obtaining timely treatment for your pet.
  • Veterinary hospitals generally require payment at time of treatment. If any employee of Cats and Critters Pet Sitting is directly responsible for the cause of the medical emergency, Cats and Critters Pet Sitting will gladly cover the full cost of treatment. However, many emergencies can arise that are not the fault of a pet sitter (i.e. urethral obstructions, egg binding, etc.). Cats and Critters Pet Sitting employees are experienced at noticing the symptoms of these and other potentially life threatening medical conditions and will immediately take your pet for emergency care, but require that you accept responsibility for the cost of treatment in these situations.
  • Should any new medical conditions be diagnosed, Cats and Critters Pet Sitting requires that notification be given to the pet sitter prior to next service. A new information sheet needs to be completed each time a new medical condition is diagnosed and can either be emailed to or provided in person at the start of next service.
  • We simply want to be as thorough as possible so that we are able to provide the best care to your pet. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy or the information form, please feel free to contact us any time via phone, text, or email.

Cancellation Policy: We understand that plans change. Should you need to cancel, please notify us within 48 hours of your first service day. If you cancel less than 48 hours prior to first service day, a cancellation fee of your first service day plus $15 will be billed to you or deducted from your deposit refund.

Daily Visit Policy: Cats and Critters Pet Sitting requires daily visits for cats, birds, and some reptiles. While your pet may be perfectly fine without daily visits, we believe that while in our care, it is essential to check on your pet daily.  Medical conditions such as urethral obstructions in cats or birds & reptiles that become egg bound can lead to a rapid decline in health, requiring immediate veterinary care. Checking in on your pet at least once daily can help him/her get medical attention more quickly should he/she need it.

Payment Policy: A 50% deposit is required no later than the day of the Meet & Greet. The remaining balance is due in full no later than 7 days after last day of care. Payments can be made in the form of cash, Venmo, or PayPal which accepts all major credit cards. A PayPal link is provided above under "How It Works" for your convenience. We do not accept personal checks. Cats and Critters Pet Sitting will provide receipts for all payments. Additionally, if you would like an itemized invoice, you may request one any time and it will be emailed via PayPal.

** LATE PAYMENTS: For every day that payment is not received past the balance due date, a $5 per day late fee will be assessed to the current invoice. If payments are late twice, moving forward the full balance of each service will be required prior to first day of service - services WILL NOT be provided until full payment is received. If payment is late a third time, Cats and Critters Pet Sitting will no longer provide any future pet sitting services.

Once you've returned home please contact us so that we know you are home safely and someone will be home to care for your pet. Should your return be delayed for any reason please contact us immediately. We will be happy to continue caring for your pet until you are able to return home. Regular daily fees will continue to apply. We do not charge any additional "late return" fees. Once you have returned, we can mail your key to you, via USPS, free of charge, drop it off in person for a $5 drop off fee, or continue to hold on to your key, where it will be secured, until your next trip.
